Recently, the State Intellectual Property Office issued a notification confirming that 19 zones including Xiamen Torch Development Zone for High Technology Industries (hereafter referred to as XMTORCH)  were selected as national intellectual property demonstration zones with a construction period from June 2019 to June 2022.

　　XMTORCH was selected as "National Intellectual Property Pilot Zone" in 2013. After three years of cultivation, it passed the acceptance inspection successfully in 2016. In order to further enhance the level of intellectual property management and operation and strive for creating the National Intellectual Property Demonstration Zone, XMTORCH actively carried out all intellectual property work. In 2018, XMTORCH established the Intellectual Property Service Center to organize and carry out all matters involved intellectual property, and provide professional services for the enterprises in the Zone.

　　In recent years, under the guidance of national, provincial and municipal intellectual property departments, XMTORCH has steadily advanced its intellectual property work and made great progress. In 2018, 56 enterprises in the Zone passed the certification of Intellectual Property Implementing Standard, an increase of 133% over the previous year; 3 were selected as National Intellectual Property Demonstration Enterprises, 4 as National Intellectual Property Advantageous Enterprises, 2 as Fujian Intellectual Property Advantageous Enterprises, 8 as Xiamen Intellectual Property Demonstration Enterprises, and 13 as Xiamen Intellectual Property Pilot Enterprises. Three enterprises were awarded "China Patent Excellence Award", 1 was awarded "Xiamen Patent Special Award", 3 were awarded "Xiamen Patent First Award", 4 were awarded "Xiamen Patent Second Award", and 10 were awarded "Xiamen Patent Third Award".

　　In the next stage, XMTORCH will conscientiously implement Xi Jinping’s Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. In accordance with the deployment of Several Opinions of the State Council on Accelerating the Construction of Great Power in Intellectual Property Rights Industry under the New Situation and The 13th Five-year Plan on the National Intellectual Property Protection and Utilization, around the construction goal of demonstration zones, it will continuously increase investment, improve the intellectual property policy system, comprehensively enhance its intellectual property level, establish and improve the work leading and overall coordination mechanism, and ensure the tangible results of the demonstration work.
