Xiamen Torch Development Zone for High Technology Industries (hereinafter referred to as "XMTORCH"), founded in 1990, is one of the first national high-tech zones in China and one of the three national high-tech zones which are named after "torch". It has successively obtained 18 "national brand" signboards, including National High-Tech Product Export Base, National Cooperation and Exchange Base on Science and Technology towards Taiwan, National Innovation and Entrepreneurship Base for Overseas High-Level Talents and National Demonstration Base for Mass Innovation and Entrepreneurship. It is the core area of Fuzhou-Xiamen-Quanzhou National Independent Innovation Demonstration Zone Xiamen Area.After more than 30 years of development, XMTORCH become the main engine for Xiamen’s innovation-driven development and the main platform for Xiamen’s industrial innovation and entrepreneurshipthe "three high" (high-tech, high growth, and high added value) enterprise cluster and the main carrier of Xiamen's 100 billion yuan industrial chain (cluster).

　　Based on the development of high-tech industries and insisting on cross-island development, XMTORCH has built an industrial development platform characterized by "multiple parks in one zone", including Torch Huli Park, Xiamen Software Park (Phases I, II and III), Xiamen Science and Technology Innovation Park, Torch (Xiang'an) Industrial Zone, Xiamen Hi-tech Innovation Center, Tongxiang High-tech Industrial Base, etc. Focus on developing and strengthening the electronic information industry (covering four sub sectors: flat panel displays, computers and communication equipment, semiconductors and integrated circuits, software and information services), mechanical equipment (power appliances) , new energy , and other industrial chains (clusters), as well as artificial intelligence, new materials, the Internet of Things and Industrial Internet, medicine and smart health industry chains (clusters).

Fortune Global 500 companies have established 62 projects in the high-tech zone, including 10 manufacturing enterprises in Xiamen with an annual output value exceeding 10 billion yuan, 8 Torch high-tech zones, over 400 enterprises with an annual revenue exceeding 100 million yuan, over 100 Gazelle enterprises, and 67 domestic and foreign listed companies (including the New Third Board). We have built over 200 innovation platforms of various types, including 5 national incubators and 25 national registered maker spaces.
